Susan Toth

I grew up in South America and the Middle East. As the daughter of immigrants, my experiences in Canada and abroad triggered a desire to use the law to pursue fair and just causes.

I’m proud to serve you as a partner with Spero Law.

How I Work

Everyone needs to feel a sense of safety, so I take the time to build trust with every one of my clients.

I believe in a holistic approach to the law.

For organizations and businesses, this means incorporating your organization’s vision, mission and values into my legal advice and approach.

For individuals, this means incorporating where you are in your life and what you are seeking to accomplish.

Above all, my approach is always collaborative, so you are always at the centre of the process.

This collaborative approach extends to every member of our firm. Each lawyer on our team has unique skills and experience, and a team approach allows our clients to receive the best possible advice from the lawyer for their specific needs.

My Practice

  • Defamation law, including expertise in anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) cases.

  • Employee and employer-side employment law. Working on both sides of the table allows me to stay tuned into employees' and employers' needs and desires.

  • Workplace harassment investigation, human resources matters, contracts and policies.

  • Human rights law, including applications to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.

Community

I strongly believe that being a lawyer comes with privilege and knowledge that should be used to invest in building better communities.

I’m a passionate advocate for equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism.
